For a new unfinished floor we will check the quality of surface and if required carry out some fine, gentle sanding before applying the stain. Often when staining new wood the wood itself, being natural will absorb the stain at different rates and there may be slight variations in shade across a floor, this is typical for natural wood and is a tell tale sign that you have natural wood. With more coats the shade differences generally reduce more however your floor will darken more so it is important that you check the state of play after each coat.
